The saving rate in Slovenia is among the highest in the European Union. According to the Statistical Office, we were in the first place in 2006, when the savings rate was the highest. The Statistical office also noted that even when the savings rate was the lowest - in 2012, we were ranked in tenth place among European countries.

At the end October, Slovenians had around 16 billion euros in savings deposits and almost 11 billion euros in loans (mostly residential) despite a growing number of people who can barely make it through the month.
