"In my opinion that is not good, and it seems that the Slovenian politicians have trouble agreeing on anything, and have even more difficulties in making apolitical and professional decisions," claims Gorazd Podbevšek, member of the professional board of the Slovenia Directors' Association. Doctor Andrej Rus from the Faculty of Social Sciences says that the government doesn't know what it wants, and cannot or dares not make the decision. "A good example is the management strategy which will be adopted after everything is sold; in the similar manner the new supervisory board and the new management for SSH will be appointed after the crucial phases of management are completed. I consider such government as incompetent, and unable to cope with its responsibility," he concludes.
Rus believes that the strategy should be rejected, and SSH closed down, as in his opinion it is detrimental, imbued with conflicts of interests, and the management of assets far from the public eye. It will be painful to watch all these interests involved with the management of state-owned companied in years to come, he warns. That makes it even more important to give to the holding professional and independent supervisors who will assure transparent and efficient management of the state assets.
