The Slovenian Environmental Agency (ARSO) has issued a weather warning. On the night to Thursday there will be a strong Bora wind in the coastal region with speeds of up to 140 kilometers an hour. Powerful gusts are expected in the Vipava Valley, as well as around Ilirska Bistrica and Bovec.

Elsewhere in the coastal region and in the Gorenjska region, wind speeds will reach up to 100 kilometers an hour. In the rest of the country maximum wind speeds will reach up to 85 kilometers an hour.

ARSO advises residents to close their windows and doors, avoid dangerous areas when being outdoors, and to be extra careful when in traffic.

Winds with such speeds are capable of bringing down branches and trees, blowing off roofs and obstructing traffic. Big waves can also be expected at the sea. All vessels need to be safely tied to their docks.
Strong winds can be expected until Friday.
