"We emptied ourselves, we didn't show the energy needed to win today's match," is what player Jure Dolenec said after Slovenia's defeat to Germany. Slovenia has thus finished eighth at the Handball World Championship.

Dolenec added that they still managed to achieve their primary goal, which was making it to the Olympic Games qualification matches. Finishing eighth in the world is also one of Slovenia's best results in its handball history.

Coach Boris Denič said the main reseaon for today's loss was the lack of strength. "Between the 20th and 30th minute we were unable to stop their attacks, their strength. This was our ninth match and our strength wasn't there anymore," said coach Denič.
