All recipients of minimum wages receive the exact amount regardless of when or where they work, and regardless of their work conditions. The unions have been warning for some time now that the practice is unjust and causes large discontent.

There are around 40 thousand workers in Slovenia who receive the minimum wage (790 euros gross, or a good 600 euros net). Some of them - a very small part of them - also work night shifts or on Sundays and holidays, but their pay is minimum wage.

The unions propose the exclusion of three pay contributions from the minimum wage. According to the unions the move would not lead to an across-the-board increase of the minimum wage and would not threaten the economy or macroeconomic picture of Slovenia.
