The consultation on key development issues, including road and rail infrastructure in Slovenia, was attended by some of the main representatives of transport policy, including infrastructure minister Peter Gašperšič, Minister Matjaž Vrčko and others.

In his introduction, Vrčko presented highlights of the new transport strategy, which was created over the last year and a half. In his words, the strategy focuses primarily on the development of infrastructure and public transport, but includes all areas of traffic.
Others pointed to the dismal state of Slovenian roads, with as many as 70 percent being described as very poor, poor or in need of improvement. Also, the costs of use are high: they cost the country 92 million euros annually.
