The legendary Croatian singer Oliver Dragojević has died. He was 71.

His last performance was in Split last October at a concert entitled 'Verjuj u ljubav' or 'Believe in Love'.

Dragojević was one of the best known and best loved singers and composers, not only in Croatia, but right across the former Yugoslavia.

His career spanned more than 40 years and produced 38 albums, with hits such as Cesarica, Nadalina and Moj Lipi Anđele.

He is one of the few Balkan singers to have performed at New York's Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall in London, Sydney Opera house and the Olympia in Paris.
