The Ljubljana marathon has been won in a new record time by Ethiopia's Sisay Lemma Kasaye.

He completed the course in 2 hours, 4 minutes and 58 seconds in rainy conditions.

The previous record was set in 2015 by his fellow countryman Limenih Getachew.

The record was also broken in the women's race. Kenya's Visiline Jepkesho came home in a time of 2 hours, 22 minutes and 58 seconds.

The half marathon was won by Slovenians Rok Puhar and Neja Kršinar and the 10k race was also an all-Slovenian affair, with victories for Jan Kokalj and Maruša Mišmaš.
