Up to 16 million people have been put in a state of quarantine in northern Italy to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. This comes after an emergency decree was signed by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte overnight restricting travel and large gatherings.

It affects that state of Lombardy, as well as 14 other regions, including the cities of Milan, Venice and Parma.

The death toll in Italy has now passed 360, with thousands more infected with the virus.

So far 16 cases have been confirmed here in Slovenia of which four were announced today.
