In order to mark Tršar's 90th birthday, the Museum of Modern Art and six other institutions have organised an interinstitutional project called Monument - Drago Tršar. The aim of the exhibitions, displaying the rich oeuvre of Tršar, is to present his art to the public. The year of Drago Tršar kicked off last night with the opening of an exhibition at the Gallery of Prešeren Fine Arts Award Winners in Kranj.
The first station in a series of exhibitions of Tršar's opus is his beloved Gallery of Prešeren Fine Arts Award Winners in Kranj. With his public sculptures and monuments, Drago Tršar has marked not only the Slovenian scene, but also the international scene. He is the author of the Monument of the Revolution in Ljubljana.
Drago Tršar spends several hours a day in his atelier, in his second home, as he calls it. His sketch pad is almost full, he creates small works of art, while sculptures are still the focus of his attention.
The year of Drago Tršar, linked to the artist's exceptional oeuvre, will continue through to mid-2018.
