The governor of Banks of Slovenia, Boštjan Jazbec said it is the first step in strengthening the Slovenian banking system. The state is issuing both banks a guarantee to ensure liquidity.

Both banks will receive emergency administrations with experienced foreign presidents on Monday. Finance minister Uroš Čufer said savers will not be affected and that the banks will continue performing its business normally on Monday.
