The most sensitive nose, taste buds, and eye … all indispensable in identification of wines. And Čarman has the sharpest senses. The proof that he has been maintaining his sommelier's skill in shape is the fact that he became the national champion for the second time. Consequently he will travel to Mendoza, Argentina, and participate at the World Best Sommelier Contest.

Immediately after the proclamation of the best Slovenian sommelier at Zemono Čarman said: "I have already participated at the world championship in Japan. It was really special. It was my first experience with the top sommeliers of the world, and I got a lot of experience there, which will make it easier for me in Argentina. You can bring all the theory on wines and winegrowing countries with you, you can learn that, but the practical part of the test is also important. I believe that I will show more sovereignty in Argentina than the first time, in Japan."

When we become aware of our roots
The double world champion was practically born with knowledge of wine culture. Čarman from Reteče near Škofja Loka is at the age of 35 one of the best known wine connoisseurs in Slovenia. He is the owner of a large company selling wines and wine glasses and gourmet products - eVino, has his own line of wines Gašper, eVino bar, and an underground warehouse in Ljubljana. He comes from the famous restaurant at Danilo, which has been successful since 1961. In 1999 he attended the first course for a sommelier, wine counsellor, at the age of 19. His father was one of the first trained sommeliers in Slovenia.

He wants to achieve as much as possible in his chosen profession. The very top, actually. In 2004 he enrolled at the London Wine & Spirit Education Trust, and in 2012 he started his Master of Wine study at the British Institute of Masters of Wine, which is the highest level of knowledge in the world of wines. Nobody in Slovenia has obtained it yet.
