A day after the murder certain information was made public that the killer could have been a former employee of the Institute, who was also in a legal dispute with Jamnik. The National Bureau of Investigation said the man was traced based on the movement of his mobile phone. However today new information surfaced, which states that the suspect has an alibi and that he was at home when the murder happened. The news was given by the suspect's defence.

Prosecutor Blanka Žgajner meanwhile said that the investigation is continuing, that the witnesses would be questioned and that all the information gathered would be enough to decide whether there was reasonable ground to suspect that the suspect has committed the crime.

The suspect’s lawyer Jože Hribernik said the case was very complicated and that he would never defend that man, if he thought his client was guilty. He also added that it was worth looking into why the public learned of his client’s identity so soon into the investigation.
