The self-confidence and skills that they learn by doing volunteer work are especially useful for young people when they seek employment.

"I intended to volunteer so I could fill up my schedule in an active way," says Milan Ninić, a volunteer from the I Simply Help Humanitarian Association. He can no longer imagine life without volunteer work.

Last year, Slovenia had almost 100,000 volunteers. They completed 11 million hours of volunteer work. This shows that Slovenia is a very positively oriented society, says Tereza Novak, the President of Slovenian Philanthropy. Volunteering improves society. It also gives exceptional opportunities, especially for young people who are looking for a job, says Tjaša Arko, the head of volunteer programs. She adds that volunteer work also gives individuals a purpose in life.
