Mushroom pickers have over the last three weeks been finding them, but this year there are not many mushrooms not only quantitatively but also there are fewer species. At this time of year there should be from 200 to 300 species, but most mushroom hunters are only finding four.

Usually throughout the summer mushroom pickers can find mushrooms but for last three years mushrooms have only been picked for a good week and then there has been nothing. For mushrooms to grow they need about 33 litres of rain per square meter at one time – something we did not have this summer. But as the ardent mushroom picker says, “Next year will be better!”
