A referendum on Yugoslav-era archives will take place on May 4th. The opposition SDS party wanted to hold the referendum at the same time as European parliamentary elections on May 25th but their proposal was rejected.

The SDS says it will challenge the decision. Coalition parties said that the referendum would overshadow European issues if it took place at the same time as EP elections. Supporters insist it would save the government money and that the earlier date is too soon.
