The Simončič double hayrack is one of the most important hayracks, and the first to be classified as a cultural monument of national importance in Slovenia. The Šentrupert municipality restored it, under the professional supervision of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, at the original location in Bistrica, Šentrupert.

The Simončič hayrack has three pairs of windows, a wooden balcony ('gank'), and a pitched roof. It stands out from more than 600 other hayracks in the Mirna river valley with its wonderful decorations. It also became the first in the hayrack network "in situ", as it stands on its original location among the restored and preserved objects of the cultural heritage in the Mirna river valley, established by the Land of Hayracks.

This hayrack was the cause for founding the museum of hayracks, Rupert Gole, the mayor of Šentrupert, explained to us: "When the Municipality of Šentrupert became the owner of the Simončič hayrack, we decided to form a museum dedicated to the development of hayracks in our region. This hay rack was custom built for the farmer Jože Simončič by Janez Gregorčič, master carpenter, called also Miklavžinov Janko, from the nearby Slovenska vas, considered one of the best carpenters in Slovenia.
