A number of special events are being held to mark the occasion including exhibitions, recitals, film screenings, literary events, while in Vrba there will be a traditional hike. In the Prešeren birth house, there will be a recital by historian Damir Globočnik.
A number of cultural events will be free today in honor of the event. Although Slovenia has celebrated the 3rd of December as a cultural day for more than a decade, the anniversary of Prešeren’s death in February is an official bank holiday that also includes events dedicated to the works of Slovenia’s greatest poet.
