On November 19, the Chief of the General Staff Andrej Osterman signed the order to call in contractual reservists in order to assure sustainability of the permanent forces of the Slovenian Army (SV) at controlling the refugee crisis.
Contractual reservists will be trained for protection of SV facilities, registration-surveillance activity, and logistics-support jobs. The Slovenian Army has called in 301 reservists for 200 additional members. The response by the reservists will be known at the beginning of the training.
The reservists joining the training will be drafted for different periods of time, from two to seven months. When defining the length of their military service individual circumstances will be considered, mostly reservations expressed by reservists’ employers.
During their military service which will start on January 4 the reservists will have the same rights as the members of the permanent forces of the Slovenian Army.
