Slovenian volleyball players have beaten the hardest opponent ever – Belgium – at the World Championship in Italy after a tough battle, with 3-2 in sets.

After winning easily over the Dominican Republic and Japan, the Slovenian team had to put in great efforts to win in their third match. The Belgians came to a great start with 2-0 in sets, until the Slovenes woke up and won all the sets to the end. The team led by Slobodan Kovač thus continues with the winning streak at the world championship.

The play routine in the Slovenian attack improved significantly when two key players entered the game: the setter Gregor Ropret and, in particular, the outside hitter, Alen Šket, who deserves the most credit for the dramatic turn. He scored point after point, and was definitely the main hero in the Slovenian team.
