The UKC medical centre suggests suspension of the children's heart surgery programme. They believe they are not capable of complying with the recommendations of the international commission which performed an external professional supervision. In order to assure a successful and safe programme, constant presence of two cardiac surgeons would be necessary, and at least 250 surgeries per year should be performed - while until now only 80 surgeries have been performed.

The final decision on the fate of the programme of children's heart surgery will be decided by the Minister of Health Milojka Kolar Celarc, who has already asked the medical board for an assessment regarding technical matters.
Missing documentation for 12 children
During the external supervision of the programme for children's heart surgery the documentation for the year 2012 was missing; yesterday evening it was finally delivered to the Medical Chamber and the Ministry of Health. The commission had established that more than 15% of the documentation was missing, i.e. the documentation for the 12 children operated in 2012. The Minister threatened to report the matter to corresponding bodies should the documentation not be sent by yesterday, Radio Slovenia reported.
