The number of adolescents drinking alcoholic beverages at least once a week has diminished in the period from 2002 to 2014, as well as the number of those who had been drunk at least twice in their lifetime. Yet drinking is less frequent only as far as boys are concerned, show the results of the survey conducted by the National Institute for Public Health (NIJZ).

The survey has also showed that most 15-year-olds have already tasted alcoholic beverages, and almost one third have been drunk at least twice in their lifetime. Almost every seventh 15-year-old drinks alcoholic beverages at least once a week.

The research Health Behavior in School-Aged Children is a cross-national study based on a representative sample of students of elementary and secondary schools, aged 11, 13 and 15, and is conducted every four years in 43 of European and North American countries, based on the common methodology.
