The Court has not announced its decision yet, as according to their explanation an oral proclamation of the decision on petitions for protection of legality is not foreseen. They will first prepare a written decision which will be forwarded to the parties, foreseeably within one month.

"Until then we are not able to give any additional information regarding the decision, or its content," they announced. Both Reporter and Večer report that the judges have rejected the petition for protection of legality, with four votes in favour, and one against, or three votes in favour and two against

The petition for protection of legality was filed by the lawyers representing Janez Janša, Tone Krkovič and Ivan Črnkovič after the final judgement in the Patria case, and after all their appeals were rejected as unfounded.

The three were found guilty of criminal offences connected with giving or receiving gifts when purchasing armoured vehicles. Janša, the former prime minister and president of the strongest opposition party, SDS Party, was sentenced to two years in prison, and a fine in the amount of 37,000 euros. Krkovič and Črnkovič were sentenced to 22 months in prison, and a fine of 37,000 euros.
