Tax hikes and the introduction of new taxes would help the budget reach EUR 8.6 billion in revenues. The opposition Democrats have announced that they will not support the budget, because it was unrealistic.

Finance Minister Uroš Čufer says that the deficit will amount to around EUR 1bn, which is 2.9% of GDP. In addition to the real estate tax, other sources for the budget include corporate income tax, VAT and measures fighting grey economy.
