A few days ago, at the age of 16, Luka Dončić played his first minutes for the senior team of Real Madrid. First against Malaga (he scored a three-point shot immediately after coming off the bench), and then against Monbus. Real's child is not allowed in front of a microphone, so we talked to his father, Sašo Dončić, a former basketball player. His opinion is that his son is the biggest talent to have ever been born in the region of former Yugoslavia.

According to Sašo Dončić his son has all the potential to one day become one of the best basketball players in the world. He is intelligent, has great motor skills and trains hard. His father doesn't see any reason why Luka shouldn't play a couple of minutes every game next season. Perhaps Sašo Dončić does get overwhelmed at times by his feelings as father, but the fact that no one has ever made a debut for the senior team of Real Madrid at such an age does tell us that Slovenia has a new gem. However, the gem will of course still need some polishing, in order to play a significant role in European or NBA basketball.
