By recapitalizing Aerodrom Maribor to the tune of EUR 1.7 million and demonstrating leadership ability, Delavska hranilnica will try to prove that they can be successful without foreign investors, and they will endeavour to connect the city of Maribor to even more airports across Europe and the world.

Despite rumours to the contrary, the new strategic partner of Aerodrom Maribor is not a foreign company but a Slovenian savings bank owned by trade unions. Delavska hranilnica acquired a 57 percent stake from Aviofun, a company based in Libeliče (northern Slovenia). Delavska hranilnica also decided to recapitalize the airport operator to the tune of EUR 1.7 million because they believe it to be a good investment.

Delavska hranilnica CEO Jože Stegne says that their new business plan has a lot going for it. After being auctioned off by its previous owner, Aerodrom Maribor is now relieved of its financial burden. Efforts have been made to make the company financially sound, and the new owner will shift his focus to further business development.

Aerodrom Maribor has averaged a 15 percent annual growth rate over the past three years. This year, the company expects to post a 17 percent increase in revenue.
