That’s why they did geophysical researches in order to help them find borders of this extensive prehistoric cemetery, and quite a lot of archaeological finds were discovered, despite the rainy weather, says Borut Križ the excavation leader.

At the end of this week, they are wrapping up the six-weeks long archaeological excavations at Kapitelj’s Field. Archaeological team of Dolenjska Museum has this year found 15 graves from the Late Bronze Age and 16 from the Late Iron Age.

Among others, they have found graves from the Late Bronze Age, and skeleton graves from the Late Iron Age from the beginning of this era, or 8th century BC, and also graves that are supposed to be from the final stages of the Late Iron Age, or 4th century BC.
From Fibula to Amber necklace

Among other findings, Kariž mentions a set of clay bowls and apart from the prestigious finding of a soldier’s grave with a bronze helmet and imported ceramics, the objects that are usually found in women’s graves. In these ones, they have found pottery and jewellery; metallic clips for clipping clothes, amber and glass necklaces and several other bronze jewellery.
