In the middle of March the Ljubljana Castle ceased to be an official location, and is now classified as special location, which means that bridegroom and bride must pay the cost for leasing the hall (305 euro) and the cost of the Administrative Unit for marriage outside the official location (170 euros). So the only option for a couple to get married free of charge is to make use of the Bežigrad branch of the Administrative unit, in the office at the Linartova street.
35 marriages in the four months of this year, last year 220 marriages at the Castle
After the decree entered into force on March 19, only 35 couples got married at the Ljubljana Castle. Just for comparison – 220 couples got married there in the same period last year.
The number of marriages at Linhartova, in the office of the Bežigrad branch of the Administrative unit, has doubled. During that period in 2014, 83 couples said their vows there, and in the second quarter of this year 164 couples left the office married.
The number of marriages at the Ljubljana Castle has been gradually declining for some years, even before the March decree became valid. In 2009 there were 727 marriages there, last year 499, and in the first half of his year only 94 couples got married at the Ljubljana Castle, while in the same period 174 couples got married at the wedding hall at Linhartova.
