The town of Dolenjske Toplice was named after the source of thermal springs discovered in historic times. The town was mentioned for the first time in 1215, when Henry IV, the margrave of Istria, bestowed part of his property on the Cistercian abbey in Stična.

Today Dolenjske Toplice is a centre of health, wellness and congress tourism and an area of unspoilt nature with a rich cultural heritage. Excavation works at archaeological sites in the vicinity have proved the use of the springs for curative purposes in historic times.

Vienna Court Music to celebrate the anniversary
At the solemn session of the municipal council the most prestigious municipal award will be bestowed, and at that occasion the concert of old music will be held as a part of the traditional Seviqc Brežice festival.
