In the past years the State has not taken best care of this problem. The eembankments that pose a barrier between the sea and the interior are in bad condition. The result being flooded areas in times of high tides and this again threatened the flood protection in the interior: Sečovlje, not to mention the damage to biodiversity. The new protection system will be finished this month.
