That is because the constitutional court has annulled the 2009 so called Kramar law that imposed an extra 49 % tax on executive pay. Based on the ruling, the state is expected to be forced to refund part of earnings those board members at state-controlled companies which had been affected by the extra tax under the law, plus interest.
First estimates by the Finance Ministry show the cost would amount to around 1.3 million EUR if the court decided in favour of claimants in all administrative proceedings, Finance Ministry State Secretary Mateja Vraničar said.
