Simeona Rogelj reported for Radio Slovenija, that after the decade-long battle for the Pivovarna Union brewery between Pivovarna Laško and Belgian Interbrew, we now have the whole Slovenian beer industry up for sale. It was the Laško brewery which was successful then, however because of bad management it now owes banks more than 200 million euros, and is therefore … on sale.
The consortium of sellers, made up of the Bank Assets Management Company (DUTB), Kapitalska družba, Alpen invest, Abanka Vipa, KD funds, Nova kreditna banka Maribor (NKBM), the Zavarovalnica Triglav insurance company, the Artisans and Entrepreneurs Fund and Banka Koper, is now selling both breweries, Laško and Union. Apart from the two breweries also on sale is Vital Mestinje, a non-alcoholic beverage company, and the Delo publishing house.
