The takeover of Mercator has been disputable due to the question of the delivery of goods and products, as it was feared, that the new owners would close the doors to Slovenian suppliers.

The guardians of the competition say, they have analyzed the Slovenian market and surveyed both competitors and suppliers, and find that suppliers have a sufficiently broad network of clients that could create alternative sales, if they were accidentally disabled access to Mercator's shelves.

According to the Agency for Protection of Competition the joint venture wouldn’t have a market power, sufficient enough, to hamper competitors.
