, German-American industrialist, inventor of jeans, Levi Strauss, dies. He made jeans, which for more than a century the most frequently worn piece of clothing. After him they are also called - Levis. Strauss noted that gold diggers required hardwearing trousers for their work. The first jeans were made of material used for tent awnings, were brown and worn with braces. That material was soon replaced by denim, a fabric made from of cotton, and dyed with indigo blue.
