Already at the outbreak of the affair regarding the analysis of aspects of Telekom privatisation Defence Minister Janko Veber announced the search for the whistler within the military intelligence service. He has mentioned several times that the statements made by the leader of the unannounced survey Tonin prove the presence of a whistler within OVS, who had passed to Tonin certain information on decision about the order for analysis. Matej Tonin himself admitted that the commission was helped by a whistler, but as it seems Mors' action is not directed against the whistler.

The General Police Directorate has confirmed the receipt of a report against a known person over suspected betrayal of classified information; according to unofficial information that person is MP Matej Tonin.

"All the arguments are in my favour. I acted in compliance with the decision of the parliamentary commission for supervision of military intelligence services," was Tonin's response. According to him it is incomprehensible that he should be charged with betrayal of state secrets, when the Minister of Defence Janko Veber kept claiming that OVS gathered all the information only from publicly accessible sources.

The head of the NSi party deputies Tonin chaired the unannounced supervision over OVS. Recently he was reported to the police by the former member of the Capital Assets Management Agency (AUKN) Marko Golob and the former employee of the Ministry of Defence Ludvik Zvonar over the Telekom affair, arising from the order by the Defence Minister Janko Veber to OVS to analyse the consequences of the sale of Telekom.
