Slovenia has to draw all of its funds, around 1.5bn euros, from the old financial perspective until the end of 2015. However the EU has rejected funding twice in less than 18 months, due to financial irregularities. In addition Slovenia already has EUR 185m which have been frozen by Brussels and can't be used. Slovenian officials are trying to convince Brussels to unfreeze the funding for those projects which haven't been disputed. The opposition is critical of the country's handling of EU funds in the 2007-2013 financing period. The parliamentary debate is expected to focus on several local environmental projects for water management and waste water treatment.
