The event will last until Friday and is expected to address questions concerning the economics of agriculture, food and rural areas. About 700 participants from 53 countries will join the congress in the coming days.

Economists will present their scientific contributions and latest findings in the fields of economics of agriculture, food production, rural development, climate change, risk management in agriculture as well as future development policies. They will also look into the effects of the global and European agricultural policy, management of food and consumer behavior when it comes to buying certain foods. The impact of the Russian embargo on European food imports will also be on the agenda.

Slovenia sees the organisation of such an important event as an opportunity to show the richness of the country's agriculture, cuisine and wine to foreign participants.
