Due to crisis with refugees Austria has reintroduced border controls. Until now the majority of refugees has arrived from Hungary, but after Hungary closed the border to Serbia on Tuesday, it seems that the flow of refugees from Serbia is turning towards the border with Croatia and from there they may continue towards Slovenia. The Austrian Minister of internal affairs Johanna Mikl-Leitner confirmed that the intensified control at the border with our country has already been introduced.

Hungary has accepted 21 citizens of Afghanistan and Iran apprehended by the Slovenian Police on Saturday at the border crossing Šentilj. It is known that they had refused the return of 14 Syrian refugees apprehended by the Slovenian bodies on Tuesday.

The police discovered a group of citizens of Afghanistan and Iran on Saturday inside a vehicle of a 43-year-old Romanian citizens, who was stopped by the Dars employees at the border crossing because he had no vignette on his vehicle. They have found proofs that the foreigners had already been processed by Hungarian, Serbian, Macedonian, and Greek security authorities.

None of the apprehended foreigners asked for international protection in Slovenia, so they remained in the centre for foreigners in Postojna. The refugees from Iran were mainly families, including a four-year old girl.

Interstate discussions due to crisis with refugees
The Croatian Minister of Internal Affairs Ranko Ostojić said in the National Assembly that he had already discussed the problem with refugees with his Slovenian colleague Györkös Žnidar. He said they had talked about the possibility of establishing corridors for the transport of refugees.
The Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz responded to the statement of the Croatian Minister of Internal Affairs about his discussion of corridors for the transport of refugees towards west with the Slovenian colleague by making a phone call to the Slovenian Foreign Minister Karel Erjavec and the Croatian colleague Vesna Pusić, demanding that both Slovenia and Croatia respect the rules of the European Union as far as the crisis with refugees is concerned. Kurz warned Erjavec and Pusić that Austria is already heavily burdened with refugees.
