Slovenia has decided to give 30.000 euros to the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNCHR) for emergency humanitarian aid for refugees in South-East Europe. Foto: Reuters


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed that due to ongoing armed conflicts in Syria, Iraq and other countries in the Middle East and wider area, more than ten million internally displaced persons and five million refugees have arrived in the neigbouring countries of conflict areas.

Persecuted by violence and deteriorating living conditions, the number of refugees deciding to cross the Mediterranean Sea in search of a safer life is increasing. More than 440.000 people have so far decided to take the journey. Many risk their lives in doing so. Almost 3.000 people have died on their way to Europe.
