After Zoran Janković's election victory at the Positive Slovenia party congress, many of its members decided to quit the party. Today Maša Kociper, Robert Golob and Aleš Čerin tendered their resignations from their party positions. In addition, Maša Kociper also quit the party.

Peter Vilfan and Maša Kociper told the press that Positive Slovenia's congress was democratic, but that they did not agree with the outcome.

A name, once the party is formed
The former member of Positive Slovenia, Jani Möderndorfer, explained that the founding session of the unaffiliated deputies will be held today. The session will make the new parliamentary group a reality. Möderndorfer added that the unaffiliated deputies will prepare for the upcoming elections together with Alenka Bratušek. At the moment they're using the phrase "parliamentary group of the unaffiliated". Soon they plan to form a new political party. That is when they will also choose a name for the party.
Answering a question whether Alenka Bratušek would lead the new party, Möderndorfer replied that "that's the only way to do it". Answering a question whether they could win more votes than Positive Slovenia, he said he was convinced in that.

New heads for two parliamentary groups
The President of the National Assembly, Janko Veber, officially informed Möderndorfer, that those deputies which quit Positive Slovenia fulfill all the conditions for creating a new parliamentary group. Mr. Veber now expects to be notified on who will head the new parliamentary group. According to Veber, talks about naming a new deputy head are also underway in the Positive Slovenia party.

Numerous resignations from the party
Shortly after Janković's victory and Alenka Bratušek's loss in the battle for party president, a number of distinguished members split from the party. Apart from Bratušek, many deputies, two government ministers, and three state secretaries resigned from Positive Slovenia.

Prior to today members who have quit the party are Jani Möderndorfer, Jerko Čehovin, Maja Dimitrovski, Aljoša Jerič, Darko Jazbec, Saša Kos, Jožef Kunič, Mitja Meršol, Alenka Pavlič, Peter Vilfan, Jože Velikonja and Dragan Bosnić. State secretaries Tamara Vonta, Jernej Pavlič and Matija Sevšek also quit the party, including ministers Metod Dragonja and Roman Jakič.
