In the past year public schools were unable to hire new replacement teachers, due to government plans to reduce the number of school employees. At the same time existing teachers were assigned additional tasks.

However the outgoing Education Minister Jernej Pikalo said he was happy that the existing standards and school norms have been preserved, despite the measures.
