At the opening of the highest observation tower in the country, which offers a view of Austria, Croatia, and Hungary, 30 to 50 thousands of visitors per year were expected. But the predicted number was exceeded already in summer, and on October 5 they received the 100,000th visitor, Olga Maučec from Bakovci.

She visited the observation tower in the company of her friends from the Bakovci Pensioner Society. She had no idea that on this day the arrival of the 100,000 visitor was expected. "I am very surprised. This is my first visit to the tower, and it is a phenomenal feeling," Olga Maučec said when receiving the award.

At the occasion of a short ceremony celebrating such an important number, the deputy mayor of the Lendava municipality Ferenc Horvath said that nobody expected such a large number of visitors, but added there was still a lot to be done in order to keep tourists in the area for a longer period of time, and to send them on their way satisfied, so that they would spread the word about Lendava.

This year more than 70,000 people visited the tower; 13,900 in August only. The largest number of visitors to this tourist attraction comes from all parts of Slovenia, next are the guests from Hungary, Austria and Croatia, and there is also a large number of visitors from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Some of the visitors came also from more distant place, some even from Canada and Australia.
