The company boasts 140 years of tradition, 1,000 employees with above-average wages, and high returns in the last four years. Employees are wondering why Slovenia is selling a well-managed company.
Based on the current market price of zinc, Slovenia could expect around EUR 60 million. However, if the new owners fire half the staff – this would end up costing the state substantially.
How to deal with any potential problems is not known. Small shareholders who have 15% of the shares in Cinkarna say that the company will not be sold at any price.
