The citizens of Ljubljana and the visitors of our capital will be able to ride free of charge from the city hall to the Ljubljana Castle.

The City Municipality of Ljubljana (MOL) announced that the starting point for the electric train will be at the city hall, and Urban will leave at noon, at 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 p.m. The departures from the Ljubljana Castle are planned for 12.20 and for 1.20, 2.20, 4.20, 5.20 and 6.30 p.m. The users will be informed regularly of eventual changes on the Ljubljanski potniški promet (LPP) website.

The introduction of the new electric train is a part of sustainable strategy of MOL and LPP for modernisation of the city fleet with an addition of electric vehicles. These are mostly intended for use in the centre of Ljubljana.

Regardless of the weather…
Urban consists of a traction engine and three carriages, with total length of 19 metres. In winter the carriages will be closed and heated, while in summer the windows will be open. The carriages with wooden chairs are equipped similarly as the city busses, and in compliance with the sustainable orientation of Ljubljana, the Green Capital of Europe 2016, MOL emphasized.

The electric train is equipped with video and audio equipment, also intended to be used by tourist guides who can connect plug in their microphones. The top speed of the train is 25 kilometres per hour.

The environmentally friendly vehicle with zero emissions will connect the main sights of the city in the centre of the city and outside it through a circular route. Thus the tourist evaluation of the somewhat remote areas of the city will be increase, which should help towards development of Ljubljana as a sustainable tourist destination, is the firm belief of the MOL.
