Meet Tibor Babić, a British Bosnian in Slovenia

Tibor was born as a foreigner, grew up us a foreigner, and still is a foreigner. However his positivity and ability to adapt are remarkable. Born in London to parents from Bosnia he says England has got everything anyone could ever want, but not for him. The great outdoors and love for nature are what made Tibor leave his comfort zone and come to Slovenia. Studying forestry in Ljubljana, this young man hopes to fulfill his dreams in Slovenia...

Meet Scott Irwin, an American in Slovenia

Backpacking and homeless in Luxembourg - content and happy in Slovenia! Scott Irwin is an Amerian who has been living in Maribor, Slovenia, for around one year now. Despite the fact that immigrating to Slovenia is no walk in the park, Scott has no regrets. This animation artist and 3D design teacher, originally from Phoenix, says Slovenians as a people are beautiful, loves the Soča River, and finds Maribor to be a progressive city.

Although taking a year off before going into higher education, Makenna feels she is doing something with her time and making the most of the life she has. Meet Matthew Charlesworth, an Australian in Slovenia

Thinking of starting a small business in Slovenia? What about a small craft brewery? Confidence and faith is what you need says Australian Matthew Charlesworth, the head of the family-owned Human Fish brewery. Arriving without any preconceptions of what Slovenians like he started making beer near Slovenj Gradec and then moved his brewery into an abandoned dairy in the centre of Vrhnika. Matthew has a van and spends his days delivering beer across the country. Traveling around he says Slovenia has a lot going for it and says he chooses to be in Slovenia.

Meet Mona Alexa, a Romanian in Slovenia

Meet Mona and her faithful dog Tasha! In search of a better life and in order to protect her pets Mona fled Bucharest and arrived in Slovenia a couple of years ago. Mona and her pets are now happy in Slovenia and call it home. Mona says Slovenia reminds her of Romania in the 80s and is happy to be surrounded by good people.

Meet Anton Ooms, a New Zealander in Slovenia

Meet Anton Ooms, a Kiwi, who feels at home in Europe. He moved from New Zealand to Holland when he was 21, and has been on the continent ever since. He decided to sell everything and move to Slovenia when he met his Slovene wife in Holland. Today he lives in Prebold, has a daughter, and a 1978 Chevy Camaro in the garage. Anton says “so far, so good”. But he does admit that Slovenia is not an easy place to get used to.

Meet Hossein Mazarei, an Iranian in Slovenia

Hossein Mazarei is an Iranian who has been in Slovenia for over two years now. He met his Slovene wife while backpacking in Turkey. In recent months Hossein has been spending time between Brežice, Središče ob Dravi and Šentilj, with in between stops in Ljubljana, where he lives, and in Maribor. He currently works as an interpreter for Persian and English at the refugee camps in Slovenia. Our conversation with Hossein offers interesting views on Slovenian society, mentality and the current situation. Wolfgang Zeike, a German in Slovenia

Wolfgang Zeike first came to Slovenia 11 years ago working for a famous German car brand. Later, when his employers wanted to relocate him to Korea, Wolfgang said no and quit his job! He fell in love with Slovenia and the region. Two years ago he took charge of the LPKF Laser & Electronics factory in Naklo. Today he's a happy man. He just bought a house in Šenčur and looks forward to spending the rest of his life in Slovenia.

Meet Hazel Ann Fancourt, an English woman in Slovenia

It is rare that you come across such a charming lady as Hazel Ann. A lady who has seen and experienced plenty, a lady who carries inside her so much from the last 70 years. We found her in Štanjel, where she has been living for the past 11 years, away from the bustling city life. Living with an Italian husband in a small home which was previously a barn, Hazel Ann Fancourt says one doesn’t need a lot to be happy in life. To be surrounded with good friends, peace and beauty is important, but one thing she could definitely do without, is the Bora wind;)

Meet Jon Hatfull, an Englishman in Slovenia

Halfway between Nova Gorica and Ajdovščina is Branik, near Branik is the village of Preserje, and in Preserje you will find the White Cow gallery and Jon Hatfull. An Englishman, an artist, a DJ, a househusband. Jon has lived in Slovenia for over 10 years now, the first five of which in Bela Krajina. In the show Jon welcomes us in his home in Preserje, shows us around his gallery, and answers the real question, which is not why choose Slovenia, but why leave England!

Meet Noon Gigir, a Sudanese in Slovenia

This time we travel to Lendava to meet a young lady from Sudan by the name of Noon Gigir. Married to a Slovene, Noon says she has been well accepted by the community. But she isn't only enjoying the benefits of living in Slovenia. Noon is also giving something back to the community and has opened an NGO called "Integrated Vision" dealing with human rights and empowering migrant women in the region. This week we go to the Karst region. This week we meet Ilario Noviello, a former demolition guy and security guard at a cocktail bar in Belfast. An Italian living in Slovenia looking after the family house. He loves the countryside and the vineyards, but speaks no Slovenian and has very little contact with the locals. Meet Hisham Hamad, a Palestinian in Slovenia

Meet Mr. Falafel! Hisham Hasad is a Palestinian from Jerusalem who now lives and works in Slovenia. After spending many years in Ljubljana he then moved to Maribor, where he recently opened a fast food restaurant selling falafel sandwiches. He says one of the ways of presenting his culture is through food. Hisham is married to a Slovene, has two children, likes Slovene folk music, and says Slovenia is his second home.
