The question is what will happen to this generation, once their parents retire? Several stories about young people in Slovenia being over-qualified but lacking proper skills that the employers are looking for have been published.

This is why more and more young people try to find a job abroad. However stories about young unemployed or young people with low income, who are still financially supported by their parents, are rarely heard of. According to Eurostat, the youth unemployment rate in September 2013 was 23.5% in the EU and 23.5% in Slovenia.

The youth unemployment rate was the highest in Greece (57%) and the lowest rate was in Germany (7.7%). The International Labour Organization expressed concern that the world is facing a worsening youth employment crisis.
