The government established the Slovenian Tourism Board (STO) on the 24th of June. In mid-July it appointed Maja Pak as the acting director. By establishing the independent body Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek says the government has laid the foundation for the successful functioning and development of the country's tourism sector.

Around nine million euros have been spent this year on the promotion of Slovenia’s tourism abroad, which is the highest amount spent in the last 10 years. The Economy Ministry highlights the Strengthening of Slovenia's recognizability as a tourist destination project. The project focuses on several key markets for presenting Slovenia's tourism: Austria, Germany, Italy and Russia. The cost of the whole campaign is estimated at around 3,7 million euros. The project includes TV advertisements (on TV channels ARD in Germany, ORF2 in Austria and the global TV network BBC), outdoor ads (in northern Italy during the Milan Expo 2015), a complete innovative digital campaign (CIDK) and search engine marketing.
