According to the words of the head of Ljubljana's museums and galleries (MGML), Blaž Peršin, the renovated house can now become a starting point for exploring Plečnik's Ljubljana. The renovation wishes to highlight Plečnik as a city icon. Peršin stresses that while many European cities boast having ancient and middle-age ruins, very few cities are complete architectural artworks, as Plečnik's Ljubljana is. "The Plečnik House in Trnovo carries inside it an understanding of the creational spirit of Jože Plečnik. The house can be perceived as a laboratory for researching the artist's life, work and mission."

At a press-conference the head of the renovation project, Jerneja Batič from the culture section at the Municipality of Ljubljana, said the whole project of renovating the house – from the documentation to the museum presentation - took eight years. The whole project included cataloging Plečnik's heritage, the signing of a cooperation agreement between institutions in possession of Plečnik's heritage – the Museum of Architecture and Design and the MGML, the acquisition of new premises, the adapting of Plečnik's House to the physically impaired, and the renovation of Plečnik's house and garden.

A two million euro financial bite
The value of the whole project is 2.264.600 euros. Almost one half of that sum was acquired from the European Regional Development Fund (1.120.000 euros). Almost 70 percent of the funds were spent on restoration and construction work. Batić added that the rest was spent on equipment, on the museum display, on the repurchase of apartments and on the garden’s renovation.
