The renovation of Slovenska Street in Ljubljana centre brought a fresh breeze – after the Hotel Slon renovation, the department store Nama now has a new image. The architects of the bureau AKSL designed a boudoir at the women’s lingerie departments

The head of the marketing at Nama Maruša Komac explained that the complete renovation of Nama department store – the distinguished logo of blue and bold letters on a white background has also been replaced with a thinner graphic-shaped letter N on a black background – happened "due to changing shopping trends, new business strategies and new needs and wishes of their customers". Last year they closed the arcade and renovated the ground floor, a few days ago they completely renovated the women’s department on the third floor, in which there is now only a new lingerie department.

"It was clear that such a department can pride itself with a great deal of femininity, and so we decided to do this," explained the AKSL architects, who in the past designed the Rog café, former ice cream shop and café aROMA on Čop Street, boutique hotel Pr’Gvedarjo and of course, the trendy Robbo. Only a day after the official opening, the Aksl architects’ Nama project won the BIG SEE Interior Award, which will be awarded by the BIG Institution within the Design Month for the first time this year.

A pink story
The idea of the architects Špela Leskovic and Aleš Košak was to cover the whole floor with "soft pink curtains, which gives the impression of entering the boudoir or the dressing room of a lady". The architects created this effect of softness by the choice of materials and shades of powdery pink colour, as well as with creating slightly corrugated walls and wallpapers with a 3D-effect in changing rooms.
