Alongside Janković, Mitja Marinšek, Stanislav Brodnjak and Boris Milevoj were previously found guilty of abuse of office and bribery, connected to the acquisition of construction land in Niš, Serbia, intended for retailer Mercator.

The ruling is now binding and many wonder how the indictment will affect the upcoming local elections, in which Janković plans to run again for mayor of Ljubljana.
